Diagnosis of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma

In order for the physician to confirm the diagnosis of Non Hodgkins lymphoma, he needs to collect some data using many measures including the medical history of the patient, a physical examination, some blood tests, some X-rays, CT scan, PET scan, MRI, lymphangiogram, biopsies, or laparotomy.

These tests can also be of a great help in the staging process as well as advanced procedures such as bone marrow aspiration, bone marrow biopsy, and/or lumbar puncture. In general, the samples retrieved by the above mentioned ways are to be examined by a pathologist, hematologist, or oncologist under the microscope to distinguish the presence of lymphoma cells which may confirm the diagnosis or staging of the disease.
