Diagnosis of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma
|
|
In order for the physician to confirm the diagnosis of Non Hodgkins lymphoma, he needs to collect some data using many
measures including the medical history of the patient, a physical examination, some blood tests, some X-rays, CT scan,
PET scan, MRI, lymphangiogram, biopsies, or laparotomy.
These tests can also be of a great help in the staging process as well as advanced procedures such as bone marrow
aspiration, bone marrow biopsy, and/or lumbar puncture. In general, the samples retrieved by the above mentioned ways
are to be examined by a pathologist, hematologist, or oncologist under the microscope to distinguish the presence of
lymphoma cells which may confirm the diagnosis or staging of the disease.
